Product Description: Labradorite Labradorite is plagioclase feldspar, a sodium calcium aluminum silicate with a hardness of 6 to 6.5. Its crystal structure is triclinic, usually in complex aggregates. Meaning: Its name is derived from the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, where the stone was first found in 1770. Color: It is treasured for its remarkable play of color (labradorescence), which shows vivid flashes of green, blue, gold, orange, red and sometimes violet. It has dark outer appearance showing the brilliant rainbow hues, when held in light. Source: Labradorite is found in Canada, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, Australia, Norway, India and the United States. Birthstone: Labradorite is one of the natural birthstones of those born during spring arrival (February 19 - March 19). Elemental stone of Aquarius, Labradorite is also associated with the signs of Leo, Sagittarius and Scorpio. Metaphysical Properties: It is considered a gemstone of adventure as it offers voyages of self discovery and beyond. Myth: Native Inuit tribes of North America claim the first Labradorite fell from the Aurora Borealis from the fire of their ancestors and a brave Inuit warrior struck Labradorite with his spear thus created the Northern Lights.
